Merging a lifetime in the arts and over 15 years in marketing and communications with a passion for learning, I take pride in striving to design face-to-face, online, and blended learning experiences which engage thoughtful reflection, improve performance and motivate and excite learners … and at times simply make compliance training a delightful experience.

I am an instructional designer, a department, project, program, and people manager, an entertainer, a script-writer, a videographer, a director, a film editor, a voiceover artist, an animator, and a techie.   I love the variety and enjoy learning something new just about every day!  What could be better?! 


It may sound corny, but I always say that love is what makes a good instructor. The ability to feel caring, empathy, and understanding toward your learners cannot be underestimated.

Creating a space where learners feel safe, allows them the ability for deeper self-reflection and to risk sharing their ideas. Empathy is motivational. When learners sense that you understand where they're coming from, realize that you may be asking them to do difficult things, and believe that they can succeed, they will rise to the challenge.

Another part of empathy is creating interesting, fun, and new experiences for learners to grab their attention, help them make connections and practice a new skill, sometimes take them out on a limb, and help them make the intellectual leap they need to learn something new. 


Technology can help us do this in boundlessly interesting and powerful ways ... but with great power comes great responsibility. 


It is my responsibility to use learning technology wisely and appropriately.  I will choose new tools and platforms for delivery that will not waste time, create minimal frustration or confusion, and will truly help enhance the learning experience. 


It's not about me, it's about the learner.  My job is to create environments and activities that allow learners to discover, create, change, have new experiences to create new connections.  It is their choice to learn or not.  It is my passion to help them find the way to do it.
